Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge

Seddonville Lodge

Details

At the northern trailhead of The Old Ghost Road a special wilderness accommodation experience lies waiting to be discovered. Begin or end your adventure with a night at the Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge to complete your Old Ghost Road experience. We offer deeply comfortable accommodation, hearty meals and relaxed friendly hosts, along with a range of local beer and wines.

The lodge is managed by the Charitable Trust that operates The Old Ghost Road, so any profits are put directly back into keeping the Old Ghost Road alive and kicking for future generations. We thank you for playing a part in making this happen.

You don’t have to be an Old Ghost Road user to enjoy the lodge. We welcome anyone who wants to stay with us while experiencing the amazing northern West Coast. There is plenty to explore, including wild bush, deserted beaches, towering mountains and cool clear rivers, the incredible Oparara Arches and Honeycomb Hills Caves in Karamea and the historic Charming Creek Walkway.

While with us, you may want to just relax, read a book, cast your line into the unspoiled Mokihinui River, or soothe those tired muscles in our famous Bush Shower. The blazing open fire in the main Lodge is a great place to share stories with fellow adventurers, and when you’ve had enough for the day you can retreat to your supremely comfortable room beneath the jagged edge of the Glasgow Range. Any direction you listen or look, you’re immersed in the native wilderness of the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island.
